Maths and English
Does your CV lack that important qualification in Maths and English that you need to gain a job or move your career forward? We can help you develop your Maths and English skills and gain a recognised qualification (GCSE or equivalent).
Skills for Returning to Work
This course enables you to develop skills in Business and Administration, Computing and IT, Computerised Accounts and Business English.
This course is for two days a week*
(9.30am-3pm) and will also include a one day a week work placement.
*One day per week at Teesdale Training.
Community Learning Centres at Barnard Castle, Crook and Newton Aycliffe
The Community Learning section can run courses in any location close to where you live but we also have three main centres at Barnard Castle, Crook and Newton Aycliffe.
These courses offer a ‘roll-on, roll-off’ facility so that you can attend on a day and time that fits in with your lifestyle. You will be supported by friendly approachable staff who will guide you through your learning journey.
As well as being able to offer courses already mentioned the three Community Learning Centres specialise in the following:
- City and Guilds Start IT for the absolute beginner
- City and Guilds in ICT (Level 1) Standard and Enhanced Certificate covering: Wordprocessing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Presentation Graphics, Desktop Publishing and IT Principles
- City and Guilds in ICT (Level 2) Standard and Enhanced Diploma covering: Wordprocessing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Presentation Graphics and IT Principles
- City and Guilds in ICT (Level 3) Standard Diploma covering: Wordprocessing, Spreadsheets and IT Principles
- City and Guilds Computerised Accounts Level 1 and Level 2 using Sage 2008
- E-type Touch Typing
Barnard Castle also offers:
Apprenticeships in a variety of occupational areas linked to local employers available to 16-24 year olds in Teesdale.
Apprenticeships combine National Vocational Qualifications with Key Skills (literacy, numeracy and IT) and a Technical Certificate to form a vocational training package.
Apprentices spend four days per week with their employer (paid) and one day either at Teesdale Training or the College. Teesdale Training works with local employers to provide suitable employment.
