COURSE STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
The syllabus covers:
Year 1
- Surface patterning
- Introduction to accessories (bags)
- Taking measurements and constructing basic blocks
- Producing pattern adaptations
- Garment construction
- Relating fabrics to styles and planning lays
- Soft furnishings
Year 2
- Design principles in the fashion and textiles industry
- Industrial garment construction
- Producing complete patterns
- Introduction to tailoring

ASSESSMENT
This will be ongoing throughout the course. You will need to submit a course sketchbook demonstrating your research and progress throughout the course, as well as basic blocks and finished garments etc. There will be no formal examination.
WHERE COULD THE COURSE LEAD?
On completion of year 1 you will progress to year 2. On completion of year 2 (see year 2 syllabus).
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Course Fee: Year 1 £445
Additional Expenses: Fabrics and threads, Sewing kit (scissors etc) Sketchbooks will be provided by the college
