How an Apprentice can help your Business

No matter how large or small your organisation, apprenticeships offered by Bishop Auckland College give you the chance to develop the skilled staff you need for your business. The College already works with over 250 employers who employ young people aged between 16 and 24 on apprenticeships. Our apprentices study for a nationally recognised qualification and receive on the job training. So if you would like to employ an apprentice we would like to hear from you. Apprentices learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, achieving qualifications and earning money at the same time. The competences are linked to the skills identified by employers as necessary for the job.

There are two levels of Apprenticeship: Apprentice and Advanced Apprentice. Both of them include National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), Key Skills, technical certificates and other qualifications required by the framework.

The Apprenticeship leads to an NVQ Level 2 and the Advanced Apprenticeship leads to an NVQ Level 3.

The Advanced Apprenticeship qualification can also lead to Higher Level courses such as Foundation Degrees.

Apprenticeships are available in:
  • Accountancy
  • Business Administration
  • Customer Service
  • Childcare
  • Catering & Hospitality
  • Construction: Brickwork, Joinery, Painting & Decorating, Plumbing
  • Motor Vehicle
  • Sales
