Accessibility at Bishop Auckland College

Stepped and ramped approaches to the building

The building benefits from level access to entrance and exit points to the perimeter of the building to allow for independent wheelchair accessibility.

Bishop Auckland Campus

The entrance point to the building , serving the main reception and central atrium circulation areas offers level access to the building. The pull handles to each door offer suitable ‘grip’ and visual contrast against the face of the doors for the benefit of the visually impaired. There is a combination of manually operated and automatic doors set to the outer and inner face of the lobby.

Entrances to the Art and Technology blocks also offer level accessibility into the building. Automated doors sets are provided to the outer and inner face of the lobbies. The clear width of each door set is suitable for independent wheelchair accessibility. Push pads are fitted to doors to assist in easy access.

Parking / Drop Off

For arrival by car, taxi or minibus the drop off point is directly opposite the main entrance. Our Campus benefits from level access to all entrance and exit points to the perimeter of the building which allows for independent wheelchair accessibility.
