Course overview

Massage therapies are used to help people to feel better and may improve quality of life.

These therapies typically take a holistic approach to your physical and mental health. They consider all aspects of your physical and emotional wellbeing, focusing upon the mind, body and spirit helping the flow of energy through the body.

You will study the following therapies:

Body Massage therapy is where a therapist presses, rubs and manipulates the body’s soft tissues. Massage is mainly used for relaxation and general wellbeing, but some people also use it to manage aches and pains.

Indian Head Massage, also known as champissage, is a treatment that focuses on massaging acupressure points along the head, neck, and shoulders to improve hair and scalp condition.

Pre-blended Aromatherapy Massage is the use of essential oils which come from plants to help relieve conditions, injuries, or to preserve wellness.

Stone Therapy Massage is an ancient practice dating back thousands of years, and involves the use of flat, smooth basalt stones during the massage treatment.

You will learn both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be able to carry out assessments upon clients to identify the therapy that would most benefit them, how to deliver a high standard of client care, the application of therapies and how to evaluate them and the impact they’ve had.
